The road from Crater Lake Park Headquarters up to the Rim Village was closed today. But, undaunted, the 10 of us decided to snowshoe up to the rim on the Raven Trail in 28 degree weather and under a clear blue sky
On our way up, we did get a bit off trail at one point and needed to blaze our own trail through 2 to 3 feet of soft snow, but within 30 minutes, we were back on track and made it to the rim by lunch time.
This was clearly an Annie lunch, with several side trips to see the ice cycles on the lodge and different views of the lake. The hike back down the trail to the cars was easy and took much less time.
Refreshments were taken at Buffalo Wild Wings and all had a great day.
